Q: How can I set Microsoft Outlook with my GPS e-mail address?

A: The instructions are dependant on your version of Outlook and your operating system. go to http://www.register.com and look at their email / email help section. They will have the correct instructions for your needs. You may have to look at your email service software's help menu. You can search on "POP 3 settings". This is from register.com's help:

http://www.register.com/
If you prefer to access your Register.com email account through a POP3 email client, (such as Outlook), please follow the directions below for configuration:

Note: Remember to replace "exampledomainname.com" with your registered domain name that you have signed up for Email Services with, and 'yourname' with the mailbox name, which you created.

  1. Go to the setup section of your email software.
  2. Change the Incoming Mail (POP) server to: POP3 server: mail.exampledomainname.com
  3. Change the POP User Name or Account Name to your new mailbox name, including the domain name, using the following format: login name: yourname@exampledomainname.com (your first name@gpsproperties.net)
  4. Change the "Reply To" address to your new Register.com email account name (for example, yourname@exampledomainname.com) (your first name@gpsproperties.net).
  5. Your outgoing (SMTP) mail configuration should be "webmail.register.com". All of your outgoing (sent) email will now contain your new email account in the "Reply To" line of the header. All "replies" to your email will now be sent to your register.com Email Service email address.
  6. Your password for POP is the same as your mailbox password
Password: same as the Web-based email password created for the mailbox.

You can find out what version you by opening outlook, selecting help, and selecting "about outlook" or something similar. This can be hard to do the first time without a PC LAN tech present. Keep with it, it's worth it. It is much better than web mail when you get it set up.
